Ever since I fell in love with the Spanish language, I’ve pictured myself traveling through Central America. I’ve loved studying the culture in these very unique countries and of course the fascinating history. Yet, until this week, I’d never been!
I was thrilled to find out my cousin, Allie, was going to be working and living in Granada, Nicaragua for a year – it gave me a really great reason to finally make the trip down. So I decided to go for it and planned trip. Time has been flying by this year, and here I am!
I arrived to Managua early Sunday morning at 5:40AM and was picked up and taken the 45 minute drive to Granada. I’m very fortunate to have a good friend in Seattle who owns a house in Granada – he has always encouraged me to go and generously offered up his house. Well, the place is amazing. The pictures don’t even close to do it justice! My friends Sarah and Jenn also arrived and we enjoyed the lovely house and walked around the town. Allie and her boyfriend Tom also stopped by to say HI and it was so great to see them!
Monday we had a very fun day zip lining and hiking the on nearby Volcano called Mombacho. We had some great tour guides who told us all about the unique vegetation and also made sure we were dare devils on the zip line! We had a blast!
